As one of the largest environmental services companies in North America, we collect millions of tonnes of waste including recyclable materials each year.

Each year, BFI Canada and IESI recycle the equivalent of more than one million trees. We offer paper, paper fiber, and cardboard recycling services to customers through our 13 recycling operations. We further incorporate recycling methods throughout our 22 landfill facilities. Our innovative liner designs have allowed us to replace natural stone material with tire chips as a drainage layer in one of our landfills. This design modification preserves a natural resource and accounts for the recycling of approximately 1.2 million tires each year.

We are also able to beneficially use other materials within our landfill operations to conserve thousands of tonnes of capacity for waste materials.
